These birds are native to dense forests in North America, and migrate to South America during the winter. The males are red with black wings, while the females are yellow with brown wings (they are in the same family as Cardinals). They often have to deal with brood parasitism by Brown-headed Cowbirds, who lay their eggs in other birds nests so that that bird expends resources to raise the Cowbirds young.
