Bird a Day

Now, less of an everyday thing, and more of a whenever-I-get-around-to-it thing.

Common Loon
Also known as the Great Northern Loon or Great Northern Diver in Eurasia, this bird inhabits the northern hemisphere, from North America to parts of Western Europe. It can dive as deep as 200 feet to catch fish, which its diet primarily consists of. It’s well-known for its haunting calls, and features heavily in native folklore. It’s also the state bird of Minnesota, and the provincial bird of Ontario.
